Publisher's Synopsis
Monapacataca (a.k.a. String Quartet No. 1) was commissioned to honor the Green Lake (Wisconsin) Festival of Music on its 25th anniversary. The 25' piece is in four movements that depict the four seasons as a series of canons. Monapacataca, which means "one who loves his home so much", led the Ho-Chunk (Winnebago) tribe from the age of 16 until his death in the 1890's at 106.
