Molly and Morris Mole have spent a long cold Winter underground with only their store of earthworms to eat. Morris dreams of eating a nice fresh slug while Molly has a feeling that Spring has arrived. She decides to go above ground to find out. Morris helps her to dig and they both carefully go for a walk to see if Molly is right. After feasting on fresh juicy slugs they discover to their great excitement that the animals and insects above ground are all awake and very busy. This is a story based on a rarely seen mammal, the Mole, and is an opportunity for children to learn about the wonderful natural history of our countryside.
