How can tutors effectively meet their adult learners' individual expectations when classes almost invariably include a wide range of ability and experience, of motivation and needs, of learning styles and interests? This "ResourceFile" explores the rationale of mixed-ability teaching and the implications for tutors and learners. It goes on to suggest a wide range of strategies for differentiation which will enable tutors to provide opportunities for all students to achieve their individual potential. Three chapters are devoted to the three stages in a lesson or a unit of work, offering guidelines on the underlying principles, which are then exemplified by a range of photocopiable resources. These can be used as they are, or be adapted easily to other langauges or to suit the particular aims of a lesson.
