Excerpt from Minutes of the Thirty-First Anniversary of the Alabama Baptist State Convention: Held at Marion, Perry County, Commencing, December 8, 1834; And of the Alabama Baptist Bible Society, Held at the Same Time and Place
Respectfully report, that in surveying the motives which might and ought to present themselves to, the christian mind as excitants to the great work of missions, such is the magnitude and such the stirring nature of those con. Siderations, that your committee feel convinced that they are sufficient to arouse and impel to continued and vigorous action all who truly love our Lord J esus Christ. And whenever these considerations shall be brought to exert their legitimate effects upon the mind and heart of God's people, then, and not till then, will the work of christian missions be commenced in earnest.
Among these considerations, your committee beg leave to enumerate, brie?y, as follows.
