This book is one of a two volume set designed to present the results of the latest research and debate on contemporary migration in Britain. It provides a state of the art review of progress made by migration research and identifies the main opportunities and challenges which the academic community should be addressing over the next few years. The book stresses the importance of migration as a component of population change and its significance as an agent of demographic, economic and social change in a post–industrial society.
