Publisher's Synopsis
I fell in love with the thought of Paris when I was 13 years old.
- If someone had've told me I would live there several times as an adult, I would not have believed them.
When I was around 30 years old, I travelled to the USA for a six week holiday, and had no inkling I would travel for seven years and spend a big chunk of that time living in Paris.
As I explored the city, I felt I knew what was around every Parisian corner, and I felt more "at home" than I ever had before in my life. I grew to love Paris -- the way she made me feel, the "joie de vivre" (joy of life) I felt every day, how ALIVE I felt ...
Everything about Paris was delicious, from the croissants and baguettes to the wine and champagnes, and I savoured all the taste sensations.
- As an artist, I found the light incredible and I loved painting in every waking hour I wasn't exploring. I started to take photos, and many thousands of those later, I've never stopped. To be honest, I started taking those photos in the 1980s, way before digital camers and then smart phones! Yes, I shipped all those photos back to Australia for me to pore over and immerse myself in my French memories looking at the faces of my friends and co-workers.
- These days digital photos and videos of course make it easier than ever before, so each time I return to Paris for a 6 week holiday, I can take as many as I like.
- I'm now turning these into books of my memories, and to delight others who might enjoy seeing Paris through my eyes.
- Paris is the City of Love and the City of Light, and has earned her name well -- she's a city where lovers can be seen everywhere, hand in hand, strolling or in cafes, totally absorbed in each other and so much in love.
I have travelled to many lands from Alaska to Greece, Mauritius, France, Italy and Scandinavia, USA and New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Singapore, Bali, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago and a host of other Caribbean islands -- and lived in quite a few of those places as well. French is spoken in more places than I realised, and I'm always learning more about the language and the culture.
- In this book I have turned some of my colourful photos into paintings, and I want to share them with you, and hope you'll see Paris through different eyes.
- If you have a favourite place you'd like to visit in Paris, or have visited already, I'd love to hear about it -- please do pop over to my website and get in touch -- I'd love to chat with you about Paris, my spiritual home, the one place on this planet where I feel more at home and at peace than any other.
Enjoy! See you at A-Night-in-Paris dot com!
