Nel medio Evo furono esse decorate da l la presenza dell' Imperatore Carlo Magno, che dopo essersi immortalato in guerra ed in pace passava a Roma. In altri viaggi che vi fece quel Manama tènne ora la Via Emilia ed ora l'aurelia ma nell' anno 786 prescelse la Via' Cassia perla Val di'chia na ed Arezzo, ove se ne conservano preziosi ed onorevoli Documenti. (guazzesi Dis sertaz. Sopra ld Via Cassia). Si nomina in quel Secolo il Duca di Chiusi, lo che conferma ciò che da altri riscontri è stato dedotto, cioè, che i disordini delle. Acque non avevano ancora resa inaccessibile, la Via Cassia, come seguì in appresso.
