Publisher's Synopsis
This compilation spans four generations starting with the memoirs of Karl Holza, a Jew in Vienna. His granddaughter, Hedi Aufrichtig, fled to Palestine where she disgraced herself by marrying a Palestinian Arab. With the Jewish-Arab War, the family had to start life again, first in Cyprus then in London. Hedi, having lost much of her Jewish family to the Nazis lost her new Arab family to Zionism. M.A. AbuKhalil supplies context for these events showing how Hedi's Arab in-laws were driven from their homeland, and refuting the view that Israel was attacked by Arab states in 1948. Family photographs illustrate the text.
