Having thus retained the old Memoir, it was easy to see that in many points of view it was incomplete, and passed over much that was important. These defects I have tried to supply by an abundance of notes, in which have been collected, with at least diligence, everything important relating to Lamb. A great deal of what I have added is new, and all I hope will be found interesting.
