Memoirs of the Celebrated Eugene Aram is a book written by Eugene Aram himself, detailing his life and the events that led to his execution for the murder of Daniel Clark in 1759. Aram was a scholar and teacher who had a troubled past, including a stint as a thief and a forgery conviction. He became involved with Clark, who was also a teacher, and their relationship turned sour. Clark was found dead and Aram was suspected of the murder. He fled and lived in hiding for many years before being caught and brought to trial.
