Publisher's Synopsis
The Vacation in St. Alaince is a children's book series that tells the funny, adventurous mission of Jack & Mickey.
Melvillecrash, the book of witchcraft, is the first book in the series.
For Mickey Dobins, summer vacation in the sleepy town of St. Alaince promises only one horror: the relentless dread of returning to school and his archenemy-mathematics. But when his eccentric friend Jack unearths a mysterious ancient tome, the "Melvillecrash," an audacious plan takes root: they will summon and enslave Satan himself to gain supernatural powers... starting with Mickey's math skills.
What begins as a seemingly innocent childhood adventure quickly spirals into a darkly comedic odyssey. Armed with moonlit chants, bizarre ingredients (a candlestick, meadowsweet flowers, and a white horse's horseshoe), and a dangerous lack of caution, Mickey and Jack plunge into the perilous world of witchcraft.
Their quest for demonic pacts is repeatedly (and hilariously) interrupted by very real, earthly troubles: a suspiciously watchful aunt, a nosy sister, and encounters with local "human devils"-notorious criminals whose sinister plots are accidentally uncovered by the boys' reckless rituals. As they battle bats, dodge bullets, and charm policemen with outrageous lies, Mickey finds himself an unwitting hero, gaining fame, fortune, and even mastering math... but their ultimate prize, Satan, remains tantalizingly out of reach.
Melvillecrash, the book of witchcraft, is a laugh-out-loud tale where childish curiosity collides with dark magic and criminal underworlds. Will Mickey and Jack finally bind the Prince of Darkness, or will their pursuit of supernatural powers lead them down the most absurd, thrilling, and unexpectedly heroic path imaginable?
