These symposium proceedings present a cross-disciplinary view of current research and practical application of melt-spinning, strip casting, slab casting and related processes. Both fundamental investigations and factory-floor issues are discussed, including the implementation of new research findings, as well as new approaches and uses for existing technologies.;The papers address the following areas: modelling, control, sensing, production, development, quality control, microstructural characterization, material and mechanical properties and transport phenomena. Processes discussed include: casting of sheet, strip and slab; near net-shape casting; planar flow casting; free-jet melt spinning; and similar processes.
