Il s'en fut tout droit a l'atelier de Delaroche; mais les conditions d'entr�e ne convenaient gu�re � sa bourse. Il se d�cida alors, sur le conseil d'un graveur, ami de son p�re, � frapper � la porte d'un peintre-lithographe, du nom de Julien Potier, qui vivotait p�niblement en donnant des le�ons et, comme la plupart des artistes de ce temps, en dessinant des vignettes pour les ouvrages illustr�s.
