Publisher's Synopsis
This study offers a unified presentation of the concepts and practical principles common to all branches of solid and fluid mechanics. Although the book grew out of lecture notes for a three-semester course for advanced undergraduate students, it contains sufficient material for a subsequent two-semester graduate course. The only prerequisites are the basic algebra and analysis as usually taught in parallel classes. An introduction to the art of design should also be offered at this stage. The book is divided into 13 chapters which are arranged in such a way as to preserve a natural sequence of thoughts and reflections.
