She began teaching secondary mathematics in 2000. In 2011, she was awarded her Master's Degree in Mathematics from the University of Houston. Ms. Newmyer is a national lecturer on the topics of math and computer science education. She is currently teaching college mathematics. Ms. Newmyer is a 2018-2019 recipient of the Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship.
