Publisher's Synopsis
Aimed at postgraduate students of queuing theory and stochastic processes as well as reseachers in such areas of industry as telephone and computer systems, the author provides an alternative solution of M/M/1 queuing systems without using the Bessel functions. He covers the time-dependent form of the state probabilities as the sum of the steady-state and transient components, beginning with a simple probability argument. As all the results reported are new, the reasoning for each is provided and the different types of results which are obtained are highlighted.
