Same-Gender Loving (SGL) ministers are an often seen yet silent segment of the African-American church - seen when it is time to preach, pray, prophesy, and praise, but yet shamed and silenced when it comes to overtly acknowledging the truth of who they really are outside of the pulpit. Many lives conflicted lives tormented by indoctrinated fears of eternal damnation, terrified of being rejected by God and family, and driven to schizophrenic nihilism (feelings of hopelessness, lovelessness, and despair). Marginalized Men are the stories of same-gender loving African-American ministers from various Christian denominations, anointed and appointed by God, who have struggled to reconcile their spirituality and their sexuality all while being faithful to God, the church, the people, and their calling. Marginalized Men, an anthology of poems and short stories, is the third book by D. Marcell that deals with pertinent issues within the SGL community, presenting counter narratives that give a different perspective of this too often marginalized segment of society.
