Publisher's Synopsis
I can tell you from experience, after I was selected as a supervisor in a department where I was previously a machinist, I had the deer in the headlight look for the first few weeks. I knew almost everyone. Some of the people liked me, some not so much. I decided I was going to make something from this new opportunity. I worked hard, extra hours, and during most weekends. There were operators earning more than I was but I knew if I did the job and ran a solid, productive department, the raises would come, and they did.
There were many things to learn, especially what kind of supervisor did I want to be. In this book, you will learn some of the things that worked for me. They may or may not work for you. I rose in the ranks from line supervisor to unit supervisor, unit manager, manufacturing manager, production manager to finally plant manager. In this book I touch on some of the following:- Welcome to Management
- Learning to Manage
- Professional Courage
- Performance Reviews
- Management Styles
- Department Improvements
- Lean Tools
- Quality
