Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Manual of Ophthalmology
This manual concerns itself only with some of the commoner diseases and injuries of the eye, and the simpler methods of testing the functions of the organ of sight, including a very brief account of the methods of detecting refractive errors. It makes no pretense to furnish a complete treatise. Therefore physiologic optics and de tailed descriptions of the anomalies of refraction and muscle balance and their treatment, Ophthalmoscopy, unusual and comparatively uncommon diseases of the eye, and most of the procedures of ophthalmic surgery are omitted. In the paragraphs on treatment a few operative methods are included because they may be regarded in a certain sense as emergency operations. In the appendix are recorded the Visual requirements for recruits and. Drafted men and for applicants in Aviation Service, the tests for ocular malingering, and formulas for the usual collyria, antiseptics, and astringents.
