Publisher's Synopsis
Gives clear and simple instructions on how to develop meditation on the breath. The eminent monk and scholar Ven. Ledi Sayadaw (the teacher of Sayagyi U Ba Khin's teacher Saya Thetgyi) composed the treatise published as Anapana Dipani in March 1904 at the request of two Burmese seekers who requested him to write a manual on the practice of mindfulness of breathing "for their lifelong guidance and benefit."The booklet was translated into English and was republished in 1996. The Editor's Foreword says:"...the Venerable Ledi Sayadaw...is described...as 'perhaps the outstanding Buddhist figure of this age.' Of this there can be little doubt, and this is the very reason why every attempt should be made to make known to Western readers...as many as possible of the numerous works originally written by him either in P li or Burmese.".
