Publisher's Synopsis

The book is divided into four sections. The first provides an introduction to imaging techniques with an explanation of the advantages and limitations of each. In addition, relative radiation doses of the techniques, and the associated risks to health are also covered. The second section deals with image interpretation and focuses on the chest radiograph, abdominal X-rays, the appendicular skeleton and the spine. The cases illustrated are typical of those encountered by junior medical staff in the hospital setting. The third section describes common clinical scenarios and how imaging can be best employed in management. The final section describes common interventional radiological procedures. The purpose of this section is to raised awareness of the important aspects of the management of these patients when they return to the ward, and in particular what complications may occur and how they are best managed. The book is pocket sized to allow for easy reference whilst on the ward or in the emergency department.
