The management of environments and human interaction with the physical world have been emphasized both in the common core for A Level and in the revised syllabuses. This text focuses on the management of a range of environments, from those that are dominantly physical to those that are dominantly human, always acknowledging that management implies people-environment interaction. Physical and human processes are taught as necessary background where appropriate, after which the text goes on to examine the management issues and their implications.
