Publisher's Synopsis
This work has been designed for practicing managers and newly appointed management personnel. Included in the 13 chapters are views and information that is far different from any other management book. This is not a how to book or a book on management theory. It is different because the focus is on the tough job of being a leader in today's workforce and the thoughts of those who live with all the challenges are included in every chapter. This is one book that was not entirely created by the author. Reflections on management in today's workplace were contributed by 89 managers in 19 states. Every area of the country was covered. Occupations of the management personnel who were interviewed for 13 key subjects ranged from Fortune 500 companies to Mom and Pop startups, to charities, to mid-sized business entities, to medical facilities, to schools, and to local and state government agencies. This book is different because it has been designed both for managers who are remunerated for their work and those managers who serve in non-profit organizations. The author does not differentiate between standards that are used by managers in all walks of life and whether they are paid or volunteer their time. The author's summaries or views are at the end of each chapter under the heading - Common Sense. Those views are the thoughts and concerns of the author and other seasoned management professionals.
