The last few decades have convinced us of a metamorphosis of man and society in its relationship with the rest of Nature. All in the company of a cheerful economic crisis that is almost permanent, I would say hiccup-like.
Observations and reflection lead us to a deeper understanding of the conflict between Man and the principles of Nature.
(a) An improper relationship between Man and Nature, leads us to consider Man an entity different from Nature. Then we ask: can a species with will and intelligence, but little wisdom and not indispensable to other life forms, survive?
(b) Society's lack of wisdom in handling extraordinary scientific innovations is leading to so many technological applications that are incompatible with Nature and its principles.
(c) The current pattern of life is turning our species into a victim of human conceit. Sustaining economic growth by maximizing consumption is absurd and dangerous.
d) Internalizing the complexity of the Human/Nature relationship cannot be done only by observing and publishing statistical data of anomalous phenomena without any reference to the principles that determine their consequences. Information is useful but true awareness is impossible without the related scientific understanding of the phenomena. For this reason, the essay seeks to understand Nature and its wonders by the principles that govern all forms of life, including our own.
Gli ultimi decenni ci hanno convinto di una metamorfosi dell'uomo e della società nel rapporto con il resto della Natura. Tutto in compagnia di un'allegra crisi economica quasi permanente, direi a singhiozzo.
Le osservazioni e la riflessione ci inducono ad approfondire la conoscenza del conflitto tra l'Uomo e i principi della Natura.
a) Un rapporto improprio tra l'Uomo e la Natura, ci induce a considerare l'Uomo un'entità diversa dalla Natura. Allora ci chiediamo: può sopravvivere una specie dotata di volontà e intelligenza, ma di scarsa saggezza e non indispensabile alle altre forme di vita?
b) La scarsa saggezza della società nel gestire le straordinarie novità scientifiche sta portando a tante applicazioni tecnologiche incompatibili con la Natura e i suoi principi.
c) L'attuale modello di vita sta trasformando la nostra specie in una vittima della presunzione umana. Sostenere la crescita economica massimizzando il consumo è assurdo e pericoloso.
d) Interiorizzare la complessità del rapporto Uomo/Natura non si può solo osservando e pubblicando dati statistici di fenomeni anomali senza alcun riferimento ai principi che ne determinano le conseguenze. Le informazioni sono utili ma la vera consapevolezza è impossibile senza la relativa comprensione scientifica dei fenomeni. Per questo motivo il saggio cerca di comprendere la Natura e le sue meraviglie ad opera dei principi che governano ogni forma di vita, la nostra compresa.
