This book is a welcome positive relief from the pessimism of our day. It is the recounting of the actual experience of the author in which things took several unexpected turns. "All of the events in both the major and minor narratives actually happened; none of this is fiction. Naturally, the theology that is interspersed in the narrative runs the risk of being regarded as pure invention by those of a different persuasion. Neverthelesss, the events of the main narrative actually took place that New Years Eve. I need only close my eyes and by intent remember again the images, thoughts, and feelings that became indelibly etched in my memory. Some people tend to get lost in their memories as they grow older. Most people have many precious memories that they carry with them; they buy us on our way. It is the sorrows and failures and sins that weigh us down. It is a call to action as well as reflection. And we all have numerous reasons for needing redemption before we are called to present ourselves before his Excellency, the Lord Christ who rules and judges in behalf of God the Father Almighty, the journey recoded in the book was a happy event imprinted in my memory, remarkable for the extraordinary intensity of my aliveness to life in that present moment. It was a time of total focus, and consequently of a sense of the presence of God, in whom we live and move and have our being".
