Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Magnetic and Drift Surfaces in Toroidal Plasma Equilibria
V -_e 0 must be preserved to be able to follow trajectories in the torus adequately.
The Betancourt - Garabedian code is first used to compute an equilibrium over a rectangular grid in a unit cube 0 §_s §_l, O §_u §_l, O §_v into which the plasma or vacuum region has been assumed to be mapped. In this coordinate system, 5 denotes a radial - like flux variable, and u and v are angular variables with unit periods. Implicit in their formulation is the hypothesis of the existence of a nested family of flux surfaces.
