Publisher's Synopsis
Magnetic components such as inductors and transformers constitute together with the control and the semiconductor components, the main parts in the design of power electronic. Magnetic materials can display a round or a square magnetization curve based on how fast the material reaches saturation. Magnetic materials are described by the magnetic field that is created when a current flows through a magnetic material and the magnetic flux density. Magnetic components appear in a variety of electronic products in the form of inductors, transformers and motors. Coping with changes over time and increasingly sophisticated electronic technologies, electronic products have also changed - from CRT TVs to thin LED, LCD TVs, desktop PC to laptop to tablet, and now single-purpose communication devices to smart mobile devices. In addition, solar energy, electric vehicle, and other clean energy-related industries continue to be vigorously developed. To match with the cross-generational change of electronic products, the design of magnetic components has changed as well - from large size to compact, and from low to high working frequencies. Therefore, it is necessary to research and design low loss magnetic components by means of efficient magnetic materials and optimal design method. The purpose of this volume is to present research on magnetic amplifiers and to discuss how magnetic amplifiers are useful in voltage regulation applications. The purpose of this volume is to discuss elements of magnetic theory. The characteristics of magnetic materials are very important and determine how the saturable core will behave. This volume concerns the important considerations necessary in the choice of the optimum magnetic component for power electronic applications. These include the topology of the converter circuit, the core material, shape, size and others such as cost and potential component suppliers. These are all important for the design engineer due to the emergence of new materials, changes in supplier management and the examples of several component choices. Suppliers using this volume will also understand the needs of designers. This volume will be of interest to power electronic circuit designers, researchers, and material science engineers involved with power electronic components.
