Excerpt from address at Smith College The differences between myself and my male counterparts continue to make themselves apparent. I'd like to share a few with you. One, you will need to be the best and the brightest. But even that is not enough. We live and work in a male dominated society. You will need to be bolder, smarter and cagier then your counterparts. Two, you will need to blatantly outwit the "good ole boys club". Three, you will need to chase your dream. You can do it! You will encounter obstacles, you will make mistakes. You will learn as you go on, but so what? That's life. The difference for you is that you have learned the ability to brush yourself off, have a thirty second pity party and march forward. Ladies, there is only one way to travel, and that is forward.
