Publisher's Synopsis
Loneliness has haunted 16 year old Irena since her mother's death when she was just twelve years old. After losing the only person she'd ever known, she was left to wander around the forest for four years. Her only hope of escape is the stone her mother gave her before she died, something she knows has magical power that will only reveal itself when she "comes to understand." All that changes though, when she is captured by a rogue dragon one fateful morning. In the dungeons, she meets her best friend, Blackleaf, with whom she embarks on the greatest adventure of her life in the magical kingdom of Agostan. There she learns about survival, friendship, and her past. Most of all though, she comes to understand loving, hating, and killing.
