Publisher's Synopsis
Dr. Rizi Nasele Bamaiyi Timane LCSW, DSW is a transgender entertainer and licensed Psychotherapist. "Love wins out" details his discovery at 8 years old that he was transgender and shares his journey as he embarks on medically transitioning to live his authentic life. It is a story of survival, growth, self-discovery, internal and family conflict, self-love, resilience, and reconciliation. In many ways, it is simply a love story and one that everyone can relate to regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, race, or any of the many factors that seemingly differentiate us. Love unites us as it's a language we all speak and understand.
Rizi provides an annual surgery fund for transgender individuals who desire gender-confirming surgery but have no insurance or otherwise cannot afford the surgery. A portion of the proceeds from all of Rizi's income (private therapy practice, entertainment, as well as from sales of this memoir), are assigned to this fund.
Rizi's message to the LGBTQI community is clear - Be your authentic self - It's the only way to inner peace and happiness.
In a 2019 televised event, Rizi was awarded the City of Los Angeles Transgender Visibility Award at City Council by Congressman Mitch O'Farrell and the City of L A Transgender Advisory Council, in recognition of his extensive work and advocacy within the Trans Community.
