He was fortunate to hook up with a fellow prisoner. Rick had survived a year there, and teamed up with Jimmy for better odds of staying alive. The two witnessed the arrival of a third inmate, Glen. Glen and Jimmy were each given high powered rifles by a sympathetic transporter attendant. Each man had specific skills that helped the group survive. Step by step they formulated and executed plans, first for safety, and then for escape from the primitive and violent world they lived in.
