Knowledge about Language is a key element of the national curriculum for English, designed to encourage an enjoyment and understanding of the English language, as well as an awareness of the importance of languages in general. Looking at Language provides a core of Knowledge about Language, with examples and activities which serve a real purpose, developing pupils' sensitivity to the many different ways in which language can be used, and providing them with an appropriate vocabulary to describe its most important features. The book is divided into six sections which cover all aspects of English as a world language.
