In summary, I believe customers must be empowered to direct and manage their cares. We can no longer afford to conduct busi ness solely under the medical model. It is too demeaning and ex pensive.
I personally believe customers should be able to determine how their long-term care dollars are spent. If they choose to recruit, train, and hire their own personal care attendants, that should be their choice. In fact, it may be their only choice if there are no serv ice providers in the area in which they live.
