Publisher's Synopsis
Living On Grim Time
A few days before Halloween, Austin roams the CREEPY CARNEVIL with his best friend, Jake, surrounded by costumed monsters, flickering jack-o'-lanterns, and the scent of caramel apples. They wait for their girlfriends to arrive, but something feels off. The laughter is too sharp, the shadows too deep. Then he sees him-the Pale Man. Tall, gaunt, dressed in old-fashioned clothes, with eyes like fogged glass. He's always just there-standing, watching them, his lips twitching like he knows a secret Austin doesn't.
Determined to confront their stalker, Austin and Jake follow the Pale Man into the haunted house. But inside, then they lose him. Then Austin loses Jake. One moment his friend is there, the next-gone.
On the outside Austin finds the CREEPY CARNEVIL abandoned.
The world feels paused.
Everyone has disappeared.
Everyone except the Pale Man.
He stands at the center of it all, waiting.
What sin has Austin committed to warrant this relentless pursuit? He doesn't remember-but the carnival does. And the Pale Man isn't just following him. He's lingering, patient, waiting to usher him somewhere far worse.
But where?
