Reva Coker Horton takes you on a nostalgic journey into her life during the years of the 40's and 50's and how America as well as her own family lived in this era after World War II. Her parents scraped out a living in the sandy soil of Comanche County growing cotton, peanuts, corn, and grain. If they had not grown beef cattle, had milk cows and chickens in addition to huge gardens they would not have survived the lean years of the 40's and 50's. Children never argued about having to help with the chores. It was just understood that was a job you had to do. If you wanted to eat, have a place to live, and sleep, then you did your part to help provide that. Life was hard but good and we were thankful to be an American and all that represented to us and the world. Ms. Horton encourages you to make your journey home, find your roots, and bask in the delight of fond memories, recalling moments you lived, and the years of that living.
