The Conejo Valley Writers group was founded by screenwriter Mike Hayward in December, 2010. What started as a small gathering to find like-minded writers to read and offer critique for his writing and others' work soon blossomed into a more formalized "club," complete with elected officers. Meetings offer a mixture of critique opportunities, writing exercises, and speaker presentations. Being located outside Los Angeles affords access to a plethora of professional writers, agents, editors, authors, and professors, who graciously offer their expertise, gratis, to enlighten our writers and enrich our meetings. Critique groups have branched off to also include poetry and screenplays, typically meeting independently in person or via social media.
