Publisher's Synopsis
John Hubert earned his B.A. in geology at Harvard (1952), M.S. at the University of Colorado (1954), and Ph.D. at the Pennsylvania State University (1958). Professor Emeritus at the University of Massachusetts, he supervised 58 graduate students and wrote over 60 publications. John writes of his happy marriage of 56 years to Mary Alice. A preschool teacher and field companion away from home for 27 field seasons and four sabbatical leaves, Mary Alice jointly raised their three children and kept the field work moving forward while making it all fun. Their love of nature, travel, and geologic research shines through the anecdotes and adventures in the field, classroom and at home.
