The following list of books. Has been prepared with a view to placing such as are most representative before those having in charge the selec tion of books for district libraries. The list is not exhaustive, but such books as are available, suitable, and valuable to the four divisions of school work have been included.
Assigning books to a certain grade can be only suggestive. No hard and fast lines can be drawn. For instance, many books included in the high school list will be found suitable for grammar grades. The choice must depend very largely upon what the child has already read and upon his ability to comprehend.
