Their hireling news papers compared him to Judas and Arnold the petty orators of the Clay Club grew magnificent as they denounced a patriotism too exalted for their comprehension; and Market Street and Front Street, though not quite yet recovered from the memory of the bets they had lost at the last election, added a per centage to the party funds of W'higgery, to pay the charges of burning him in effigy, and insulting the ladies of his family by placards upon his door.
