Publisher's Synopsis
This book is about Robert Francis Kennedy and his brother, John Fitzgerald Kennedy lives and family; where they came from plus their Military services and their Political careers. RFK was a fair and honest politician, he fought for Civil Rights and Justice in this country though some trying times such as segregation, the assassination of John F. Kennedy (his brother), assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Civil Rights struggle, the Voter Rights struggle and Urban Riots. During the Cuban Missile Crisis RFK proved himself to be a gifted politician, with an ability to obtain compromises tempering aggressive positions of key figures in the Hawk Camp. The trust the President placed in him on matters of negotiation was such that Robert Kennedy's role in the crisis is today seen as having been of vital importance in securing a blockade, which averted a full military engagement between the United States and Soviet Russia. His clandestine meetings with members of the Soviet Government continued to provide a key link to Nikita Khrushchev during even the darkest moments of the crisis, in which the threat of nuclear strikes was considered a very present reality. Dallas became the City that killed John F. Kennedy, which occurred on Friday, November 22, 1963. This is the furthest from the truth that could ever be imagined. The average citizen had no thought of malice toward the president, nor to a point of killing him in Dallas what so ever. However, Dallas became a ghost town. Making matters worst were "White Flight" to the suburbs. Dallas suffered for many years to come. Over time, buildings began to deteriorate, and some hoped a wrecking ball would demolish what seemed only to be a sad reminder of that tragic autumn afternoon. But fortunately, Dallas' overwhelming heartache did not lead to the destruction of such historically significant sites as a downtown plaza and a seven-story building at Elm and Houston Streets. Instead, these locations remain today as part of the City's and the nation's heritage. Dallas has became the number one destination in Texas for tourists. I do not know who planned the assassination, nor who fired the shots. But I am convinced there was a conspiracy. This book considers the detailed timeline of events before, during, and after the assassination of John F. Kennedy, President of the United States. Topics includes Fatal Day Players, Dealey Plaza witnesses, Who Killed JFK? and Points of Interest. Therlee Gipson
