Bookseller Notes
First published in 1747, the epistolary novel, Lettres d'une Pruvienne, was an instant bestseller, and was translated into several languages. The first English edition was in 1748, also printed in Dublin. In this second edition The Sequel is added, accounting for the hiatus in the collation. In addition, here we have another setting of The Sequel, with its own title-page (as opposed to the drophead title in the main body), a printing which is not recorded in ESTC. ESTC does record a Dublin printing, also 1749, of only 32 pp.
