Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Letters of the Fifteenth and Sixteenth Centuries, From the Archives of Southampton
This Introduction is intended to cover both parts of the present volume, the letters of 1400-1550, published herewith, and the Elizabethan letters, which will be published in 1922. Similarly the part for 1922 will contain the Index to both parts. The pagination will be continuous, and a binding-case uniform with those of the rest of the Society's volumes will be issued with the second part, which will be published as early in 1922 as possible. It is hoped that these arrangements will do some thing to lessen the inconvenience of the reduction in output to which the Society has been driven by the great rise in the cost of production, and that the securing of fresh support may make this method of publication in half volumes no longer necessary after 1922.
