The assistance rendered by the members and former members of the staff, and the next-of-kin of those who died on active service, in furnishing particulars, has been of the utmost value, and we take this opportunity of extending to them our cordial thanks for their courtesy. Since the publication of Volume I we have received more recent information concerning the ranks and dates of enlistment in the case of a few members of our staff and the necessary changes have been made in this volume.
