These letters came into the possession of my Wife from a variety of sources. Among others, from relatives and friends in Canada, whose sons volunteered in 1914, and from a sister stationed at hospitals from France to Mesopotamia. The interest inspired by the letters led to the sugges tion that she give semi-public readings in aid of War Relief. This she did from 1915 until the entry of the United States into the War. Very soon after, she met with a serious motor accident which made it impossible for her to continue her War Relief work.
