S. E. Il Sig. Monino, stato Ministro della Corte di Spagna in Roma scrivendomi in una lettera tutta di suo pugno, in data dei 10 Ot tobre 1776 relativamente alle stampate lettere, dice cc che quando queste non sieno produzioni di Ganganelli ' mestieri che il loro autore abbia avuto il medesimo suo spirito, dottrina, massime, carattere, vivacit e brio naturale, di cui io sono stato ocular testimone in lun ghi e spessi colloqui. Or se a me si attri buisce l'aver ricopiato Clemente XIV, con tanta precisione ed energia bisogner pure ch'io mi tenga per uomo grande, mentre non avendogli parlato in tutto il corso della mia vita che sole tre volte mi son cos ben saputo investire della sua natura e maniere, fenomeno non veduto altra volta.
