Publisher's Synopsis
This book discusses the subject: God's Ideal for Marriage. Generally, it does contend that God's ideal for marriage is an indelible, divine institution, one that is not subject to human legislation, that if followed literally, it would eliminate marriage problems and divorce. It puts God's Word, the Bible, which sets forth God's marriage standards and ideals, as the only authority for an ideal but human marriage. The Bible presents such standards and ideals in the foundation, character, form, purpose, and essence of marriage. The first of God's ideals and standards of marriage is found on its godly foundation. The foundation of anything determines the success or failure of the object or thing built on it. If the marriage foundation is weak and not solidly based on God and His Word, certainly marriage will be in tatters. Secondly, God's ideal and standard of marriage is seen in the character of marriage. It asserts that not every individual man or woman is fit for marriage. The wrong man or woman will not make a good marriage. Thirdly, God's ideal and standard of marriage is found in the form of marriage. It states that God's standard requires a theocratic marriage. God assigns the husband as the head of the family with his wife as his assistant. If this formula is reversed, marriage will be in trouble. Fourthly, God's ideal and standard of marriage is also seen through the purpose of marriage. Sex in marriage is not for business but for human procreation. Finally, the essence of marriage requires human marriage must be patterned after the marriage of Christ, the husband, and the Church, His wife in order to be successful.
