Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Lecture Introductory to the Course on Anatomy, in the University of Pennsylvania
In our own country, but little yet has been done for the ad vancement of Anatomy and Physiology; nevertheless we have had some excellent observers and teachers. Among the former are the names of Beaumont, Wistar, Allison, Rush, Gibson, God man, Harlan, Wyman, and others.
One of the most distinguished teachers of anatomy in our country, and at the same time an accurate observer, was he whose loss we have just been called upon to mourn. Dr. W. E. Horner, my predecessor, taught anatomy to large bodies of zealous stu dents, our fathers and friends, within this venerable university.
