I undertake to assert not only that the Institution of African Slavery, as it exists at the South, is not a National evil, but that it is positively favorable to the moral and physical progress both of the master and of the slave. I am fully aware of the extent of this assertion, and of the shock which it will carry to some minds; but the time has come that Truth must awaken fromthe dreams of morbid sentiment.
