I had come upon the Great Cli?'e Road from Lincoln, and turning down the old lane, by 'the park wall, leading to the little hamlet of B soon arrived at my friend' 8 gate. A broad gravel walk, running between beds of shrubs and ?owers, led me by the church and the gra ve yard, to the Rectory. The gable ends of the old-fashioned looking house were covered with the glossy leaves of the ivy, which spread over the leaning roofs, and gave to the Whole build ing a very picturesque appearance.
