In this third edition, the genders of nouns have been introduced, and every word denominated according to its appellation in the parts of speech to which it be longs. The Author ?atters himself, that the Lexicon will now be found complete, the greatest attention having been bestowed upon revising it, as also the whole of the work.
The Author returns his most sincere thanks to those numerous friends who have so kindly countenanced the first and second editions, notwithstanding the faults which were often met with in them, and assures those friends, that to them alone, the present and future generations will be indebted for a work which can carry their pupils through the roads in this branch of educa tion, formerly so dry and so repulsive an encourage mm: which has acted as a stimulus in bringing the work now to perfection.
